care in the age of cybercorps

in a rather long winded article[1] about some important, potentially problematic, aspects of leftism, justin murphy touches on something really interesting that has[2] also[3] been[4] described as "understanding vs. explaining".

In my view, this tradeoff between being correct about how the world works and caring for each other enough that we can cooperatively change it in the direction of peace and abundance for all—this is perhaps the most vexing and urgent puzzle for a genuine revolutionary left today. Yet remarkably I am not aware of a single person genuinely risking themselves on solving it, so I’m going to try. At present I am working on understanding the mechanisms whereby such an important problem has somehow been so stubbornly invisible to so many of us for so long. My wager is that we if we can truly understand the mechanisms of our own blindness, we will find pathways to the holy grail of the revolutionary left tradition: the flourishing of all human beings in peace and abundance, immediately, without recourse to all of the right-wing solutions that get raised in direct response to the left’s willful neglect of exactly this impasse.

perhaps justin has yet to discover the nascent walkaway and solarpunk culture forming within decentralized social spaces. i don't know that we have a soultion exactly, but our stated goals[5] appear to address this problem directly. culturally, we tend to highly value empathy, analytical thinking, deep knowledge, and the ability to teach. one example of a beautiful place with these cultural values is Merveilles Town[6].

Merveilles is a community project aimed at the establishment of new ways of speaking, seeing and organizing information. A culture that seeks augmentation through the arts of engineering and design. A warm welcome to any like-minded people who feel these ideals resonate with them.

again, the answers aren't necessarily laid out, but i don't know that "the solution" is something that one person can figure out to catalyze a new future. years ago when i first created my goal was to find other people who were looking for something that i couldn't exactly put my finger on, something that i was looking for myself. what i found was an amazing group of people who had made a similar journey, seemingly attracted to the same elusive thing. i don't know what i'm doing, but i feel compelled to participate in this new thing and i hope it leads somewhere good.

there's another connection i want to make, but i can't see down the road any further this night. i'll tell you about the cyborgs another time.
